Earlier this month, Broadcast magazine launched their Not 4 Sale campaign in opposition to the Government’s plans to privatise Channel 4. We’re proud to be supporting it.
The campaign is a response to the launch of the government’s consultation on the future of Channel 4, which was launched recently and declared that “the government’s preferred option is to facilitate a change of ownership of Channel 4”.
Broadcast began their campaign earlier this month, and it has already gained widespread support from independent production companies and trade bodies. We believe that the privatisation of Channel 4 would be damaging to audiences, to independent producers, and to Britain – that’s why we’re adding our support to the campaign.
