Call for Ofcom inquiries into GB News

The British Broadcasting Challenge has sent the following letter to Ofcom, the media regulator, urging an investigation into the output and ownership of GB News.

We are asking Ofcom to establish two inquiries into GB News as a matter of urgency: reviewing their editorial policies and practices; and conducting a fit-and-proper person examination of Sir Paul Marshall, given he is a Person of Significant Control.

We believe that GB News’ behaviour and ownership pose serious questions about whether it should be allowed to continue as a licensed broadcaster. Given the sustained failures around issues of impartiality, and the imminent local and general elections, we also believe these inquiries need to be undertaken expeditiously.
