The British Broadcasting Challenge yesterday submitted our response to the government’s consultation on a change of ownership of Channel 4 Television Corporation. Our belief is that the evidence points to privatisation of Channel 4 as being an act damaging to Channel 4 itself, to independent production companies across the UK, and to the entire nation. We also take issue with the way in which this consultation has been conducted, with loaded questions and a lack of evidence presented by the government to demonstrate the apparent necessity of privatising Channel 4. The consultation is no longer accepting new submissions.
